Halogen lighting fixtures
Halogen Lighting Fixtures:
Halogen light fixtures come in a wide selection for a variety of
applications - cable lighting, display lighting, monorail lighting,
picture lights, recessed lighting, fixtures, track lighting, and
wall sconces.
Halogen
bulbs are a form of incandescent lamp bulb containing halogen gases
that increase the life of the bulb (up to 2,000 hours) but they
are more expensive to buy than ordinary incandescent bulbs.
They
can be either tubular or low voltage bulbs. Low voltage halogen
lamps are not low energy lamps. They are slightly more efficient
than normal bulbs of the same wattage and are most suitable for
highlighting features such as paintings or for special purpose lighting
directly over a cooking area or desk.
Halogen
lights are used for downlighting. Downlights provide bright pools
of light rather than general illumination. Up to six downlights
may be required to light the same area as one pendant light. Downlights
can also cause gaps in ceiling insulation, particularly if they
require clear space to allow heat to dissipate.
Halogen
lights should be fitted with lower wattage and more efficient bulbs.
Efficient 35W halogen lamps are available that produce as much light
as a standard 50W lamp.
