Ionic air purifiers

Ionic air purifiers removes allergens and other impurities from the air. Often they also have features such as ultraviolet light to kill bacteria, mold and viruses. We're talking really clean air here, and there are no filters to replace - all you do is wipe it clean.

The ionic air purifier works a bit different from other air purifiers and air filters in general. We won't get into the actual technicalities here about how the purifier works, but instead give an example of a commercially available ionic air purifier.

An example of an ionic air purifier: Electrocorp Model 224
The Electrocorp air purifier Model 224 has a very quiet single air pump, which pulls contaminated air through two stages of air purification. This air purifier contains two stage filtration. The first is a washable pre-filter than can capture particles as small as 10 microns. For second stage of filtration there are two orderable options listed below.

Option 1: An air purifier with a HEPA type filter for .3 micron small allergen particle filtration
Option 2: An air purifier with a specifically engineered carbon filter which primarily removes gases and nuisance odors from the air. The carbon filter quickly removes dangerous chemicals such as formaldehyde and Volatile Organic Compounds.

This air purifier also comes with a powerful built-in negative ionizer, which electrically charges airborne particles with a negative charge. Negative ionization gets the dust particles to stick to positive surfaces within the room. According to the manufacturer, it is best to place the air purifier about 3 ft. or more from the wall to encourage less dust to stick to the walls
