• Included SEB236 Powerbrush: The powerbrush has a 13 3/8" wide brush roll (over 2.5" wider than the SEB217 powerbrush included with the Miele Silver Moon and Blue Moon), 5 height adjustments, swivel neck for maneuverability, an integrated light, all-around bumper strip to protect furniture, and automatic shut-off when in the parked position.

Pluses:

• Certified Miele Sealed System™ with HEPA filtration: The Red Velvet is the next in line of the Miele vacuums to be independently certified to be true HEPA sealed vacuum cleaner systems. The allergens remain inside the vacuum and bags - an appreciated feature for allergy sufferers. Also, the dust vacuum bags seal automatically when removed from the vacuum.
• Improved power: The newer Miele vacuums such as the Red Velvet have been given a pre-filter and hose with increased width which provides more cleaning power than in the Miele Red Star or White Star (141 CFM vs. 130 CFM).
• Direct connect powerbrush: This SEB236 Powerbrush is an electrically powered carpet tool that has a wand that connects with internal wiring. Simply attach the wand to the hose and the powerbrush to the wand, and it's ready to use.
• Clean high and low with telescopic wand: Telescopic means that you can effortlessly push or pull to adjust the length of the wand to the task or space that you are cleaning, whether it's the floor, baseboards, or top of the curtains.
• Directly connect brushes and tools to hose: A fully electrified direct hose connection makes it easier to switch between tools and brushes. Since the electrical wiring is included inside the hose, there is no need to waste time with plugs or wires. The lower priced Miele vacuums have non-electric hoses.

Minuses:

• No dirt alert light: Miele does not have one of those handy dirt alert lights such as used in some other vacuum cleaners. There really may be dirt that still needs to be picked up that is being agitated by the brush roll. This light lets you know for sure when the dirt is gone, and we'd like to see it on more vacuum cleaners in the future.

Summary: The Red Velvet HEPA vacuum cleaner has the same award winning design as the S500 series models, but it includes the larger powerbrush (13 3/8" wide vs. the 10.5" wide SEB217 powerbrush included with the Silver and Blue Moon vacuums) to make vacuuming more efficient, since it can handle more surface area in less time. For a mid size machine with all the consumer friendly features anyone could ask for, Miele has done it again.
