Recessed lighting
Recessed Lighting:
For bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, offices, and other areas recessed
lighting is a great way to add function and style, draw attention
to artwork or wall hangings, highlight architectural details, and
add depth, drama and contrast to your room decor. Available in a
wider range of styles than ever before, recessed light design is
perfect for accenting artwork or for presenting a clean and modern
look.
Recessed
lighting is very popular as a general lighting source. Recessed
lighting may be in the form of 3" to 8" diameter "can" type fixtures
consisting of a trim and housing.
Trims
are the visible portion of the recessed light fixture and are available
in hundreds of styles and colors to control the spread of light,
reflect the light and/or match a particular decor or theme.
The
housing is the actual enclosure that is installed into the attic
and connected to the power system. Different housings are available
for new construction and remodel construction where attic access
is difficult.
Recessed
lighting sources are available in fluorescent, halogen, and incandescent
bulbs.
Recessed
lighting tips:
- Add a dimmer to your receded lights for maximum flexibility
- Use bathroom recessed lights and kitchen recessed lights to wash
a wall with light to create an inviting effect
- Concentrate recessed lights over a kitchen counter or island area
for functional lighting
- Use recessed lighting in a hallway, spacing the lights every six
to eight feet for safety.
